I cut myself [okay, finger and of course unintentionally] when I was washing dishes. I broke a glass, maybe because I forgot to press 'OFF' my Extra Power button when washing it that day. Had it wounded kind of large and even gaping badly. Whoa, it's bleeding and I can't stop it. Then I did this home-first-aid-steps. Well, it is important to tell you that this is only a sharing based on my experience. Please do remember that I'm not sharing medical advices. This is just what has worked for me. Don't forget to check if you're allergic to the antibiotics or any of other substances in the medication.
1. Starting with:Ouch..., Ouch...[well, ignore this, it won't help at all], Try to stop the bleeding with hold something on the cut, let's say clean hand towel or part of your shirt [not sure if this is clean] by pushing it down until it stops bleeding. It approximately takes 20minutes to stop the bleeding, try not to lift it up to check if the bleed has stopped. Just keep pressing it down.
2. Once it stops bleeding, you will need to clean the cut. Flush with clean water [cool tap water should be okay], you don't have to use soap, just rub the area surrounds the cut and it would be better if you use alcohol swab to remove bacterias and avoid infection. (This will be so sting, hell yeah! >.< Oh, but I found that being under 16° air conditioner, it helps reduce the pain. Effect of freezing somehow makes a numb sensation. IMHO though.)
3. After cleaning and disinfecting the cut wound, now put the 2 x 2 cm sterile gauze covering the cut area. I use Daryant-Tulle, wondering if it is actually used to heal cut injury. But this really works for me. Twice as I experienced, when I stumbled n hit my right knee on the rocks at Dicsovery in Bali. I met someone at the hotel lobby, after seeing my wound he recommended me to buy the tulle at K-24 , told him I applied Betad*ne on it, he said it's not gonna get better, and it's exactly getting worse after 2 days, even discharging pus. Blah! So, my friend bought me the tulle.
4. The last step, cover the gauze with bandage all over the wound area to prevent bacteria from getting in. Don't forget to change the dressing at least once a day. Do this until you start to see a layer of skin or a scab and you can remove the bandage and allow the cut air. Make sure you keep applying the tulle until it's completely healed. I've been told, our body healing system works the best especially at night.
5. Take a warning from me: Go to see a doctor or any medical helps if you find a serious injury.
